Mountain Maryland Forward (MMF) recruits and trains people who are in residence at local recovery houses. In contrast with similar programs, education is extended to business owners so they can learn how to manage the unique dynamics of employing individuals with a history of substance use disorder (SUD), identify local services and resources, and access additional support and assistance when necessary.
The MMF internship program serving Garrett and Allegany counties provides structured job skills training linked to paid local internships and ongoing mentoring and recovery assistance.
People participating in the internships have access to a combination of online and in-person training, employment services, career planning, introductions to community services, Wi-Fi service, peer recovery support, and get practical work experience.
Employers and interns are also encouraged to participate in strategic planning and evaluation activities to provideĀ feedback to MMF and ensure successful internship experiences throughout the duration of MMF and create future employment opportunities.
